“That… means a lot too.” He frowned. “I never… meant to kill King Thaan… I wanted to, I wanted to make him pay for making me his slave… but I could not control my power. If I could it never would have happened.”

“I understand that feeling of wanting to make someone pay, Zagan. I understand your anger, and you are pardoned, my friend.” His smile fell a bit though as he thought of Gaap. He’d been dropping a lot of sexual references ever since he’d woken up. Then there were his strange headaches and his visions…The king frowned a bit, making a note to speak to Xeros about this. He was starting the piece things together, despite the headache it gave him. “There is no more reason to worry.”

“Of course,” Darren stated with a small smile, “That’s the reason I offered it. I would be honored to have one of my most trusted friends as an elder once more.”

“Thank you King Darren. This means a lot. I never realized how much I would miss my position until it was striped from me…”

Darren leaned forward on his desk, excited to finally tell Zagan the news, “How would you like your position as elder back?”

“Really?” Zagan tried not to look excited, but he couldn’t hide it well. “I would love that. Being able to bring justice to Azreal and the others on Gaap side again… Can I really have it back?”

“Of course,” Darren stated with a small smile, “That’s the reason I offered it. I would be honored to have one of my most trusted friends as an elder once more.”

The king gave a small nod, “It’s alright. It…had to be said.” He shifted in his seat, leaning forward once more, “But Azza will not be forgotten, and Liam will live on in his stead.” Darren still felt awful, but buried that feeling, and gave Zagan a small smile, “Now, I wish to ask you something, Zagan.”

“Yes, Liam will. I will always protect him, even on the battlefield.” He smiled a little then, though at Darren’s last words he looked a bit confused. “Of course, anything your majesty.”

Darren leaned forward on his desk, excited to finally tell Zagan the news, “How would you like your position as elder back?”

Darren nodded, but sighed, “…alright. He may train. I…shall try to arrange for some kind of shield or something to keep him safe. The battle field is no place for a pure.”

“I agree.” Zagan smiled a bit, but frowned again soon after “Forgive me your Majesty for bringing you such bad news, I wish I did not have to.”

The king gave a small nod, “It’s alright. “Yes… My love means so much to me… to think about him going to war… going face to face with that man… It hurts. But he has his heart set on it. He is scared… but he wishes to train.”

“I agree… I had hoped if flare did change, Liam would have a much more common element, I did not want to see my love in the war. But it seems that is where he is meant to be.”

The king gave a small nod, frowning, “I do not wish to see such a pure boy see the rage of the battle field, but time is so short….” He sighed, looking pained once more, “This is horrible…”

“Of course, forgive me. Before Azza gave himself up. He told me to give Liam two things. His job, and Flare. I had hopped Flare’s powers would remain as fire, that Liam was also able to use it. But once in his posession, Flare transformed… he changed into what Liam’s powers are… which turns out to be… water.”

Darren looked over at Zagan, still pained, but interested, “…Strange that such a rare gift was given to him…” He mused, frowning He knew of Liam, and had heard that he seemed to be the purest of any pure in a long while. It was a shame Fate seemed to want the child to go to war…

“Yes… I am sorry it turned out as such… but the next news I have for you will make you understand even more why Liam should not have been the one to be taken.”

Darren frowned, taking a seat as he studied Zagan, “I also have news for you, but please, go first.” He wondered what could have Zagan looking so worried

“First off, and I am sorry to give you the bad news first… but when I was in Azreal’s possession, I found out he was in league with a contractor. A contractor who was promised Liam’s pure soul… to save him… Azza sacrificed himself.”

The king paused, not expecting that. He leaned back in his chair as the news was processed, looking stunned, then pained and even rather guilty. Azza had been in love with him after all, so Darren felt personally responsible for the angel, “That is…terrible news. Painfully terrible…”
